Unless and until you master the art of marketing, you will never take your business to the next level - and that's a fact!
For example, just because you're a decent copywriter with a few clients, doesn't mean you know jack about marketing.
Why? Because copywriting in-and-of-itself is not marketing.
Copywriting merely falls under the umbrella of marketing - the same way advertising falls under the umbrella of marketing.
So what exactly is a marketing umbrella?
The marketing umbrella encompasses all eight steps of marketing:
1. Advertising
2. Copywriting
3. Networking
4. Promotion
5. Publicity
6. Public Relations
7. Selling
8. Telemarketing
None of the eight steps is more important than the other. They're all vital.
Master each one of the eight steps, and your business will skyrocket!
So what exactly is marketing?
The best definition of marketing I've seen is contained in this quote:
"If the circus is coming to town and you paint a sign saying, "The Circus is coming to the Fairgrounds Sunday," that's Advertising. If you put the sign on the back of an elephant and walk him through town, that's a Promotion. If the elephant walks through the Mayor's flower bed, that's Publicity. If you can get the Mayor to laugh about it, that's Public Relations. And, if you planned the whole thing, that's Marketing!"
